Remember Rocky Dennis, The Boy Who Inspired ‘Mask’? This Is What Happened To Him!

Roy L. “Rocky” Dennis was born in 1961 in Glendora, California, with a very rare bone condition called craniodiaphyseal dysplasia. Doctors said he wouldn’t live past the age of seven, but his mother, Rusty, refused to believe that.
Rusty fought for Rocky to go to public school and taught him to be proud of who he was, no matter how he looked. Rocky was smart, funny, and kind, which helped him make friends with classmates and teachers. He did very well in school, joined the debate team, and became known for his great sense of humor and strength.
Even when people thought his face looked like a mask, Rocky stayed confident and kind. His incredible story inspired the 1985 movie Mask, starring Eric Stoltz and Cher. But the real story of what happened to Rocky is even more inspiring.
