Renowned author and pastor John MacArthur, a prominent voice in evangelical circles, has been hospitalized for two weeks, recovering from multiple surgeries with complications that have prolonged his healing process. Grace Community Church (GCC) in Sun Valley, California, where MacArthur has served as senior pastor for over five decades, publicly addressed his health status in a heartfelt announcement delivered by elder and staff pastor Tom Patton on Sunday.
At 85 years old, MacArthur has faced a series of health challenges in the latter half of 2024, necessitating three separate surgeries. Pastor Patton revealed that MacArthur’s recovery has been slower than initially anticipated, with ongoing complications affecting his heart, lungs, and kidneys. Despite extensive medical evaluations, doctors have yet to identify a singular root cause for these persistent health issues.
